Among slender yellow ears the cornflowers stately grow,
In the morning full of charm watch the sun's seductive glow;
Spellbound by their gentle look, with a longing pure, insane,
Thousands butterflies have come and descended on the plain.
In the foliage thick and green birds are twittering at ease
Stop the butterflies to hear and they're rocked by a blonde breeze –
All the summer day they spend near the flowers, feel the bliss,
And reveal their short-lived love with a touching, dainty kiss!
But the hours of the night in deep silence are engrossed;
All the playful butterflies quickly vanished like a ghost,
Birds are quiet, sing no more, the cornflowers wail and moan,
For the happiness has gone and they are again alone.
